Cats, cats, cats, cats, cats….I love’em!
I can’t get enough of them! So much so in fact that I have become a cat fosterer, giving temporary homes to cats and kittens that don’t have one. I write about the trials and tribulations, successes and failures, pleasures and challenges of cat fostering, bringing you lots of cute pictures, videos, hints and tips.
The cats and kittens I foster can be young or ill and in need of special care, can have behavioural problems and need rehabilitation, or can simply have nowhere to stay.
It is an emotional roller coaster – the excitement of the new arrival, the concern when its behaviour is so bizarre you’re not sure what to do, the stress when it has destroyed your husband’s favourite shirt (my long suffering, not so keen on cats, husband’s favourite shirt!). Then the joy and pride when a scared feral kitten starts to warm up to humans and becomes adoptable. And ultimately the goodbye, often with tears of both joy and sorrow. All my hard work has paid off and the kitten or cat has recovered from it’s ailments, it is no longer aggressive and afraid and can go on to it’s forever home.
Having given up a career in environmental consulting due to ill health, I needed to feel I had a purpose, a motivation to sieze the day. And a challenge that tests the mind and body. I certainly have that with cat fostering.
